The next couple of days see a shift away from the Neptune energy and more focus on Mars, now in Capricorn and full of energy and a willingness to work hard. Mars is slowly moving towards Pluto but before he gets there he first runs into a square with Uranus and then a sextile with Saturn.
The sextile with Uranus could prove to be a little explosive if we aren’t careful – it’s a continuation of the ongoing cardinal square between Uranus and Pluto turn and which is pretty tense in the first place without having the added energy of Mars getting involved. It’s an energy that responds well to hard, physical labour although care needs to be taken as it can also be a bit accident prone with the square aspect and Uranus being involved. If Mars isn’t kept busy somehow then he’s more likely to rub Uranus up the wrong way and this could lead to angry outbursts, even violence in some cases, and also accidents.
After the potentially explosive energy of that square we get a more soothing sextile to Saturn – well, I say it’s soothing but Mars and Saturn and Pluto together are pretty intense and the sextile helps these energies work together – which could be a good thing if we are able to channel it productively, or it could mark a time of hard work that feels restricting and unrewarding and for the benefit of the boss or the organisation rather than bringing in any real rewards for yourself. This could also trigger the square to Uranus which will still be felt – some people might even be tempted to throw in the towel and take off and do something more interesting instead.
All in all these movements of Mars are the build up to the full moon eclipse on the 28th as it is this movement of Mars that begins to activate the yod which will form between Mars/Pluto, Saturn/Venus and with the Moon and Lilith at the apex. Actions now will colour our experience of this eclipse and so will also colour what comes from it – so if you do decide to throw in the towel and chase after more interesting dreams than slogging away for other people then you need to be prepared to put in the hard work and weather the storms that are likely to come about as we travel through the unpredictable and unstable yod energies set in motion by the eclipse.
The sabian symbols that form the base of the yod that Mars is activating over the next few days are interesting:
Mars and Pluto:
(CAPRICORN 9°): AN ANGEL CARRYING A HARP.
KEYNOTE: The revelation of the spiritual meaning and purpose at the core of any life situation.
This picture simply says that “heaven is within us.” All we have to do is to be open and listen to the total harmony of life, a harmony in which we play a part that is necessary to the completeness and meaning of the whole. In order to do this we have to surrender our separative ego- consciousness and flow with the universal current which, to the religiously minded person, is the Will of God.
This is the fourth symbol of the series. The technique it implies is that of ATTUNEMENT to the rhythm of universal life. Angels are to be considered personalizations of various aspects of this life, and totally subservient to its rhythms and purposes.
Meanwhile Saturn will be joined by Venus:
(SCORPIO 7°): DEEP-SEA DIVERS.
KEYNOTE: The will to explore the hidden depths of all experiences and to search for primordial causes.
This symbol essentially refers to depth psychology — a coming to terms with the collective Unconscious and its contents. This type of depth-plumbing adventure is basically different from the one symbolized by the gold rush, for it can take place within the individual and with no relation to social value. It refers symbolically to a quest for “under-standing” — i.e. for what lies under the surface waves of daily living. This quest may lead to great dangers. It demands a strong will and good breathing — i.e. a degree of spiritual strength. It usually challenges powers hidden in the depths of the unconscious.
The contrast between “deep-sea divers” and “men of the gold rush” is significant. It presents in an interesting manner the opposition between a first stage and second stage symbol in the five-fold sequence of cyclic phases. The inward quest opposes the outward search for the great social symbol, gold. It should lead to a DEPTH REALIZATION of the very roots of consciousness.
This is the base energy that can provide the eclipse with stability and grounds for growth – in general it looks like advice to dig deep and to understand the hidden depths of our emotional and spiritual motivations and Mars suggests we expend a little of our energy in doing that right now so that we are more prepared to use well the energies of the eclipse.
Altogether these energies remind me of this song – I think it’s the combination of stony Saturn/Capricorn influences:
