The final moves lining up for the eclipse on Wednesday are now taking place. Like chess pieces moving into position for the finale – will it be checkmate?
First we have the Sun trining Uranus bringing flashes of inspiration, a shifting, rebellious energy that sees where it wants to get to and is prepared to make shocking and unexpected moves in order to get there. The trine is a harmonious energy, which in this case makes it very easy for self-confident Uranus in Aries to see exactly what he wants and for the Sun in expansive Sagittarius to go chasing after exactly that. This is no stay-at-home energy, it doesn’t like to be bored – wants challenge and excitement. If you go with the energy and do something active that stimulates your mind then the energy could work well for you, otherwise, or if you sit still for too long the energy could build up and you may be prone to accidents or at least a disturbing sense of frustration.
This is the energy that kick starts a whole other lot of shifts and connections. First of all Mercury turns to move forwards again. Having gone back over the degree of the eclipse back on the 13th Mercury has re-covered all the ground he needed to since he went retrograde 3 weeks ago and now he is set to move forwards again, once more covering the solar eclipse degree tying that into the lunar eclipse that is coming.
We then have Venus conjuncting Saturn, intensifying the Saturn placement in the yod that is being formed by Lilith to Saturn and Pluto, and which will be activated by the eclipse:
Venus’s role with Saturn is to make the energy more sensual, physical, more in touch with itself – Saturn can be quite resistant to the power of touch and the physical, Venus softens. At the same time Saturn brings to Venus a sense of time, the difference between values that last and those that are ephemeral or not deeply rooted in ourselves and our experience.
Shortly after Venus joins Saturn Mars joins Pluto – this is an aspect that puts me in mind of mining, whether mining our own subconscious, mining imagery and information for insight – or even actual mining (I’ll be interested to see if this eclipse brings any news regarding mines and miners). Again, the movement of the more personal planet, Mars, to contact impersonal Pluto is a demand to get real, physical, tangible – Mars likes his energy to have some kind of output which could be achieved through physical exercise, labouring or even gardening, provided it involves digging or building (hint – if you can manage to have a bonfire with waste removed from the garden that would be great!)
Meanwhile Lilith sits at the apex of the yod, waiting for the Moon to join her for the eclipse – Lilith’s energy is notoriously unpredictable and difficult to control. In fact, controlling is probably not the best thing to try to do with this energy as that is likely to produce a negative, counter-effect. Instead maybe the best way to approach any feelings of disturbance, discomfort or anger that Lilith might be bringing out is to make sure you have an opportunity to express them fully without taking them out on anyone else.
The sabian symbol for the degree Lilith is occupying is interesting and highlights again an earthy or natural tone to her message at this time – could be she is kicking off at the conquest of nature, making felt a need to reconnect with the earth and treat it wisely and well rather than plunder its resources and treat it as a commodity:
(GEMINI 9°): A QUIVER FILLED WITH ARROWS.
KEYNOTE: Man’s aggressive relationship to natural life, as a basis for survival and conquest.
The bow and arrows represent symbolically man’s ability to extend the scope of his conquest of nature and to kill enemies in order to build a larger base for the collective development of a culture and an organized society. Implied in the symbol of the arrow is the piercing of a target. The mind of man is essentially a trans-piercing power; it goes through the object toward which it is aimed. It seeks to go through and beyond the obstacles on its path, and this usually implies the destruction of the obstacle. At a higher level — as in the Zen practice of archery — the obstacle is the ego.
At this fourth stage of the fourteenth five-fold sequence of phases in the cyclic process of human existence we are shown the archetypal symbol of Man, the Conqueror. It may be a conquest of outer nature, or that of instinctual drives and of the limiting power of the ego. It is always CONQUEST.
