Dancing and fun beckons, and maybe a headache if you’re not careful!

Today, 19th December, Venus is making a lovely trine to Uranus from fiery Sagittarius to fiery Aries and promises some excitement, maybe some interesting or stimulating meetings. Venus and Uranus can get on pretty well together, have fun and make some sparks fly, especially when in fire signs – keep an eye out for particularly interesting people if you’re out celebrating the holiday season this evening! It’s also an energy that like to be active – out and about having fun, moving, using up that energy that both fire and Uranus have in bucket loads. So if you are celebrating it might be a good idea to fit in some dancing!

Be careful not to overdo it though – tomorrow Venus squares Chiron which is a much more sober kind of energy and can indicate painful thoughts or hurt feelings. Or, with Chiron in Pisces and Venus in a fire sign it could just indicate a hurting head after overindulging.

If you find you are sensitive to this transit of Venus and Chiron pay attention to tomorrow as Venus square Chiron also activates a t-square to Jupiter who is moving backwards in Gemini to perfect the square with Chiron at the end of his retrograde next month. Tomorrow could hold hints of things to come with that closing aspect of the Jupiter Retrograde and could well relate to things being raked up from the past. Of course squares aren’t necessarily nasty or bad, but they are challenging – and if faced up to can bring real and beneficial changes into our lives.

All in all it’s an interesting run up to the solstice and the turning point of the year – it could even be very symbolic in that it could herald a turning point in our lives!

There is a bigger message in these transits too, which repeats some of the themes we have seen picked up over the past few months, especially relating to community – and with Chiron involved in hints at reaching some kind of understanding about what is needed and what we can do to help our communities fulfil their potential and help to heal any hurt feelings or difficulties there might be. It’s relationships (Venus) but linked into the wider world, so more than just about one-to-one relationships but still about relationships that impact upon your personal life in some way.

The sabian symbols for the Venus/Chiron square reinforce the community focus of these transits and are Venus at 6 Sagittarius:

KEYNOTE: The development of skill in group-situations testing collective goals.

Any society is built on the interplay between groups of people, each group united by an at least temporary aim. The individual person within the group is assigned a particular role in the play; and definite rules have to be obeyed. The game teaches not only personal skill, but fairness and cooperation. Where this symbol is found, the value of making individual-will or ego-will subservient to collective cultural patterns is emphasized. Several symbols belonging to Scene Seventeen (Sagittarius) relate to games or group rituals, because these are “ab-stracted” from everyday social behavior and used as educative means to develop group-consciousness and an individual sense- of responsibility to the group.

This is the first symbol of the fiftieth five-fold sequence. It refers to the importance of developing GROUP SOLIDARITY.

And the one for Chiron at 6 Pisces:

KEYNOTE: The dedication of human beings to the service of their community, and the assurance that it will be emotionally sustained by the people at large.

Here we see at work the emotion-rousing appeal of social activities which demand the surrendering by the individual of his personal way of life, his opinions and his comfort. The socializing process is pictured in all its intensity but what is implied even more is the support that the socialized person can expect from the collectivity if he is ready to act and to sacrifice himself for the nation or the group.

This is the first symbol of the sixty-eighth series. It allegorizes the power generated by a totally accepted and enforced collective discipline, and the exaltation and mass response which he who has achieved this self-surrender to a social tradition can expect in return.
