Following the Mars conjunction with Uranus – a potentially exciting, explosive, accident-prone energy if ever there was one – tension continues to rise as Mars moves through the cardinal square from conjunct Uranus to square Pluto. This is a real tussle between the individual and the group and tensions are likely to surround people feeling that they are somehow unfairly treated or taken for granted and wanting to assert themselves while organisations, societies and people in authority want to control and direct energies into group structures, away from what individuals want to do.
As Mars is moving through the cardinal square he also moves into a yod formation with Jupiter, turning the ongoing yod with Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto into an interlocking yod. In a way this deflects energy from the ongoing yod, making it feel more stable as Jupiter becomes supported by the energy of Mars and is better able to express himself, rather than feeling he is simply channelling the efforts of Saturn and Pluto to dig into, undermine and redefine the bigger social structures that shape our lives (governments, banks, corporations etc). Mars is particularly strong at the moment and lends support to Jupiter. With Jupiter in Gemini it suggests that we will be able to say what we think, what our conclusions are especially regarding beliefs, responsibilities, and so on. However, being able to say what we think is one thing, it is quite another to say that the message will be acted upon in the way we hope – these are yods and the energy is difficult to put into practice. Saturn finding himself the focus of attention from Jupiter and Mars may become inclined to withdraw – and silence does not necessarily indicate agreement. If you find yourself in a situation where someone seems to be withdrawing and becoming less communicative or cooperative it is as well to remember this and be patient and clear but also persistent. Saturn doesn’t appreciate the outgoing and loud energies of the Jupiter/Gemini to Mars/Aries sextile, especially when he’s retrograde and in Scorpio – but Saturn is where these energies need to find an outlet – in a depth of understanding about people’s motivations and the political and psychological pressures we are all under and what can be done to redress the balance.
Meanwhile Pluto, who has been supporting Saturn in an attempt to unpick, understand and reformulate the structures of the societies we live in (think politics, government, banking and our bosses at work etc) is under pressure himself from the Sun, Mars and Venus all moving in to a square with him. Meanwhile Mercury is moving into a sextile with Pluto, encouraging him to say things that normally he might keep to himself – and with the pressure he’s under this might come out in the more negatively Plutonic ways of sarcasm, cynicism and derision. If you feel like you are under pressure over the coming few days try to let off steam in a way which isn’t going to hurt feelings, put people down or scare them off – or at least try to count to ten before you do it!
All this unstable and erratic energy is not easy to manage and you might find people all around you start to lose the plot as they begin to feel under pressure from different sets of expectations and torn in different directions trying to fulfill them all. Something has to give – at least that’s how it feels – and the pressure continues to build into the full moon on the 27th. Now is not a time to keep things bottled up, if you try to then they will burst out in all kinds of unpredictable ways. Best to find constructive ways of saying whatever it is you need to – bring out the best side of Jupiter, the optimistic, generous and philosophical. Or if that doesn’t feel like an option make the most of an energetic Mars in Aries and do something physical, although with Uranus around be careful not to go out for a run or to the gym if you are feeling really worked up about something as you’re more likely to do yourself an injury – it’s best to use this Mars energy before the frustrations build up rather than afterwards!
More on the full moon to come!
