The Garden of Earthly Delights

The Sun and Mars have now moved out of ebullient Aries following Venus into the slower moving, more sensuous sign of Taurus. This is Venus’s home territory and she will encourage focus on sensuous and earthy delights. Taurus can also lead people to become somewhat stubborn and stuck in their ways, something which can feel frustrating at times, especially to Mars who can kick up a bit of a fuss if he starts to feel like anything is standing in his way. If this sounds familiar to you over the coming month or so just try either not forcing things (if someone or a situation just doesn’t want to budge), or giving in a little bit (if people seem to be trying to push you in a direction you don’t want to go in).

The entry of the Sun into Taurus also opens the eclipse season – the first of which is a lunar eclipse on the 25th of this month. More about the eclipses soon but in the lead in to them we have some interesting and productive energies to make use of.

First we have Mercury moving through the cardinal square – he’s is currently moving from the conjunction with Uranus (surprising communications, inspiring messages, inspiration coming out of the blue) and on towards the square with Pluto (good for research, analysis, digging into deep and hidden political and psychological motivations). If you’re working on anything scientific, political or psychological this is a great weekend for getting things down on paper, or talking things through with colleagues who will help you clarify your thoughts.

On Monday Venus makes an exact opposition with Saturn – the combination of these two energies can be incredibly constructive with Saturn helping to give solid form to Venus’s ideas of beauty and value and a sense of stability in relationships. However, the opposition can be difficult to manage as the two energies seem to pull against one another. Often we experience this as other people embodying one or other of the energies while we embody the other. The answer is to work together – to make the most of this one will often mean joining forces with other people and building something together. It’s important to view others as our helpers and try to surround ourselves with people who we can work with as far as possible.

We then have Mercury moving into a creative sextile with Jupiter – Jupiter expands just about everything he comes into contact with, and at the moment he is still travelling through Mercury’s own sign of Gemini. This is likely to lead to a rapid increase of information coming in – it could well be that much of it relates to issues from last September/October – Jupiter is about to leave his shadow, crossing the point at which he turned backwards at the beginning of last October. At that point he was conjunct minor planet Chaos – and he is just passing that same minor planet again and tying up loose ends. It may well seem a little chaotic for a couple of days while the sextile from Mercury is strong – it’s down to information management techniques and with intellectual Gemini being involved a rational approach could help a lot!

Just before the lunar eclipse Venus trines Pluto – with both planets in earth signs this speaks of earthy and practical pleasures. Any heightened emotions that come with the energy of the full moon will be soothed by things of the earth – including good food, plants and flowers, walks in nature and crystals.
