Today we have a full moon right at the beginning of Aquarius – the combination of the full light of the moon showing culmination and the very beginning of a new astrological sign symbolise clarity as regards a new beginning. This full moon is also important as it closes the cycle of full moons being followed by new moons in the opposite sign. It has been a period of some months when projects and plans can take more time than you would expect to materialise, or when what you thought were new beginnings were actually closing a cycle and what you thought were endings were actually beginning a new phase. This full moon is followed by a new moon in Leo and then another full moon in Aquarius bringing things back into a more easily discernible pattern.
The chart for this full moon is very interesting – and rather lovely to look at with its hexagram shape. In fact it is a precursor to later this month and next month when this hexagram, or grand sextile, pattern becomes much stronger. The pattern for this full moon is created by aspects to the moon’s nodes and Chiron, and Psyche is conjunct the North Node too. It’s a time of understanding, of deep insight and of intuitive understanding. It lays the foundation for what we will achieve over the coming month or so as this unusual configuration becomes stronger and pushes us towards a greater understanding of what role we can play in making the world a better place, and just how we can make sure we achieve that.
Interesting to note that Venus and Pallas are in tight yod formation with the Moon at the apex, channelling the energy of Venus and her manifestation as the warrior goddess Pallas Athene into the energy of the Moon which then focuses on the Sun challenging the fresh energy of proud Leo into a more altruistic concern with those issues symbolised by the degrees of Pallas and Venus – namely Cancer and Virgo, the realms of home and garden, nurturing, family and earth. This full moon calls for some time spent being aware of what is around you, listening and looking for clues which show you how you fit into the bigger picture – it shows how to think of self and other at the same time and how by striving for something bigger than yourself you fulfill yourself.
The Sabian symbols are for the Moon:
(AQUARIUS 1°): AN OLD ADOBE MISSION IN CALIFORNIA.
KEYNOTE: The power inherent in all great human works to endure far beyond the workers’ life spans.
This is the first stage in the sixty-first five-fold sequence. It speaks to us of THE CONCRETIZATION OF AN IDEAL. This also implies the “immortalization” of an individual within a great collective and cultural enterprise.
And the Sun:
(LEO 1°): BLOOD RUSHES TO A MAN’S HEAD AS HIS VITAL ENERGIES ARE MOBILIZED UNDER THE SPUR OF AMBITION.
KEYNOTE: An irruption of bio-psychic energies into the ego-controlled field of consciousness.
This is the first stage of the twenty-fifth five-fold sequence of symbols which opens the ninth Scene. The keynote of ‘Combustion’ for the entire series of fifteen phases hardly needs interpretation. In a general sense the key word for this first degree of the sign Leo could be CONFLAGRATION. The energies of the biological drives as they irrupt, more or less forcefully, into the field of consciousness.
