2012 marks the end of the Mayan long count calendar, which began somewhere back around 3000bce. It’s also supposed to mark the emergence into the 5th world. Here are some of my thoughts and first a nice, short piece appropriate for consideration about Venus and valuies: “You have been telling the people that this is the Eleventh Hour, now you must go back and tell the people that this is THE HOUR. And there are things to be considered…
Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Are you in right relation?
Where is your water?
Know your garden.
It is time to speak your Truth.
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for the leader.
Then he clasped his hands together, smiled, and said, “This could be a good time! There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly. Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water. And I say, see who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally. Least of all, ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt. The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves! Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. I did also do a bit of delving into Mayan stuff as they were very much influenced by the movements of Venus and found some really interesting stuff, mostly about how transits of Venus presage shifts in global consciousness. Here are a couple of links: http://www.theastrologypage.com/Archives/transit_of_venus.htm http://www.midlandsschoolofastrology.co.uk/astrological_meaning_of_venus_transit_2012.html
Also, the ending of the Mayan Calendar is supposed to indicate the dawning of a new kind of human consciousness, one which we might struggle against if we are too attached to the status quo:
The solar eclipse of the 20th seemed symbolic even though the degrees don’t connect so clearly, it does take place whilst Venus is still, in effect, stationary and it is right at the beginning of the same sign, so there’s some connection there. The symbolism is quite interesting if you want to get into arcane/esoteric stuff – the eclipse occurs at 0+deg Gemini, conjunct the Pleiades – and in the Book of Revelation (1:16) includes what seems like a reference to the Pleiades in the ‘Seven Stars’. And of course at the end of Revelations (22:16) a reference to the ‘bright and the morning star’.
Of course, the Book of Revelation is all about the coming of a new world – A new Heaven and a new Earth and ends on a pretty upbeat note with a tree of life bearing fruit ‘for the healing of all nations’ and the curse being lifted that came from eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge back in Genesis …
Sabian symbol for the Venus transit – 16deg Gemini (rounded up) = PHASE 76 (GEMINI 16°): A WOMAN ACTIVIST IN AN EMOTIONAL SPEECH DRAMATIZING HER CAUSE.
KEYNOTE: A passionate response to a deeply felt new experience. How appropriate is that??”
Venus and the Lunar Eclipse
I like the notion of spiritual evolution that comes with these Mayan/Hopi prophecies. It reminds me of Pierre Teilhard du Chardin, who wrote that ‘we are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience’. Not only did he (as a Jesuit!) not agree with the doctrine of original sin he also had interesting ideas about evolution. He proposed what is called ‘convergent evolution’ which is the idea that we are, all sentient beings collectively, evolving into something divine – an expression of divine, unconditional love. Makes a nice change from Darwinian brutes just competing for survival.
The link to Venus and the various myths is a suggestion that with the Venus transits we get a kind of ‘super-boost’ enabling us to shift up a gear in this evolution. I’m going to post a few charts which to me illustrate this in practice. First, the chart for the June 4th lunar eclipse. Here Venus is moving square to Mars, suggesting the creative tension inherent in the interplay of the sexes – it can be difficult but more than that, to me squares are always creative and productive. Mercury has moved onto that sensitive 23deg Gemini point and has made the trine to Saturn that Venus promised but was held back from. Neptune is stationing Rx. It looks like a creative, productive chart to me, but will take energy and focus to keep it on track and make sure it doesn’t disintegrate into argument. (PS put various different Gods and Goddesses in just for fun)
Next, the chart for the Venus transit. The tension has lessened a lot BUT the big thing to note here is that Moon conjunct Pluto squaring Uranus, with Uranus on the superior conjunction degree of next March. There are deep, potentially disturbing undercurrents here and not much of an outlet – this is where meditation, contemplation etc really help – they are also aspects which allow deep insight.
The third chart moves us to the superior conjunction of March 28th next year – and look how close it is to Uranus! Sabian symbol for 9deg Aries: PHASE 9 (ARIES 9°): A CRYSTAL GAZER. KEYNOTE: The development of an inner realization of organic wholeness. The crystal sphere symbolizes wholeness. Within the sphere images take form. These images may reveal future events, but more significantly they picture “the situation as a whole” – the situation which the clairvoyant is meant to interpret. The nascent mental faculties operating through still dominant emotions (or collective cultural incentives) act as a centralizing and whole-making power. What the intelligence perceives in its concentration is the function of every inner impulse and outer events in the open field of a “personality” still unclouded by egoism. At this fourth stage of the five-fold sequence the new technique required for the development of individualized consciousness is revealed: CONCENTRATED ATTENTION.
Combined with the chart we see a lot of unresolved energy at this time with the Sun, Venus, Uranus conjunction squaring up to Pluto but also getting supportive vibes from Jupiter. Jupiter, on the other hane, is at the apex of a yod, theaspect of projection, with Saturn and Pluto, suggesting that his energy is more focused on wishful thinking thsn hard work. It looks like the suoperior conjunction finally forces him to do something about it:
The fourth and final chart I will post is for the Venus/Jupiter conjunction at 23deg Gemini on May 28th next year – this suggests to me the completion of the cycle. What I wanted to do is link this to the thoughts about the pattern of movement Venus makes with her retrogrades, mapping the stationary retrograde and direct points onto a map of the heavens. It seemed to make sense to look at the pentagram from 2004, the first in this pair of Venus transits. It seems to me that this pentagram indicates sensitive points where we might find it easier to access some kind of inspiration or illumination, something that helps in the quest for spiritual evolution. I’ve written on the inferior conjunction points too.
This is the pentagram for the world I guess, for everyone, it might be interesting to combine it with your own, personal pentagram and see what hints there might be about how and where you find it easiest or most productive to pursue spiritual aims. Also, the interpretation I put on this pentagram as a whole is that Gemini is the ‘head’ as that is where the Venus transits are (NB, the odd location for the chart is because I was looking for a place in the world that would put this recent transit and the ‘head’ – and earlier this year I visited Paquime, a world heritage site where Venus was a significant marker for the civilisation – this is the closest location I could find). It’s like inspiration comes through airy Gemini – ideas, communication, learning, curiosity, trips etc. It is manifested through the creative energy in the hands of fiery Leo and Aries – very action oriented signs. The path that is walked is rooted in Capricorn responsibility and Scorpio passion…
